FAQs

About

SuperLooper is a lending library for quality pre-loved baby clothes. Our aim is to keep items of clothing circulating in the loop, and out of the attic or landfill.

Instead of owning baby clothes, our community of parents rent them for as long as they want, before returning them to be loved and looped by others.

You can add to the clothes library by sending your outgrown clothes with your returning order – find out more under ‘how do I add clothes to the SuperLoop?’ in the Orders & Returns section below.

Our loved & looped clothing mainly caters for babies 0-24 months but we do also have some lovely items for older siblings, so it’s always worth using our size filter to take a look at what we have.

You can order pre-curated bundles for newborn babies in girl’s, boy’s or gender neutral styles/colours. The sizes cover newborns and 0-1 months. The type of garments included in the bundles are not listed in the library because they are too tiny to carry our barcode labels but if you want larger items like jackets and dresses you can find these listed and add them to your order.

The bundles come in 2 sizes (£16 or £10) and include:

body suits sleep suits

babygrows & rompers

leggings

T-shirt (larger bundle)

jacket or cardigan

blanket or sleep bag (subject to availability)

Hats, socks, mittens (subject to availability)

Plain white body and sleepsuits (subject to availability)

Although all items are subject to availability we will endeavor to fulfill all your needs 🙂

Whilst our clothes have been pre-loved, strict quality control checks are made before any item is sent out to make sure your clothes are clean, fresh and ready to wear. Before clothes arrive with you, they have been thoroughly cleaned and any small fixes are made.

To keep clothes in the loop for as long as possible, we take the utmost care of our clothes and only add items to the loop if they are of great quality.

One of the SuperLooper membership perks is having access to the Lucky Loops Box which is full of useful stuff like plain white bodysuits, vests and sleep suits, shoes, swimwear, socks, hats, mitts, bibs and other accessories which this you can borrow FREE of charge (subject to availability) just ask for items you need to be added to your order.

To make sure that everybody can enjoy our Lucky Loops we have a limit of 6 items per order.

Orders & Returns

Once you have signed up and picked your subscription plan, simply browse our clothing library and add any items you would like to rent to your shopping cart.

All memberships include £20 clothing rental credit which will be added to your account each month.

As you place your order the cost of each item will be added to your cart total. On the Cart page add the coupon code “monthlycredit” to redeem your £20 allowance on the total cart value.

You can only use this coupon code once each month.

We do our best to make sure deliveries are with you by the reservation date you selected. If your order does not arrive within this time, please contact us so we can investigate and make sure your rental is extended to the correct amount of time.

Our system is automatically set for a one month rental period, but if you want to keep items for longer you’re more than welcome.

To renew your items go to ‘My Account’ and then ‘Orders’ to view your past orders and add the same items to your cart for the next month.

This gives us time to make sure all items you are ordering are available, clean, repaired and ready to send out.  It also allows time for us to sort out any special requests you may have so we can confirm our selections are to your taste.

When you’re ready to swap your clothes, choose your new items from the Clothing Library as usual (see ‘how do I place an order?’) and we will send the new items out to you.

Following receipt of your new items, simply use the box or bag that your new items came in and attach the prepaid address label. Drop your clean and dried clothes off at any Post Office.

Please return the items you wish to exchange within a week of receipt of the new ones.

We don’t want to get too hung up on this because these things happen when you have a baby, but to protect ourselves we do need to put a plan in place.

There’ll be no charge if you lose, stain or damage an item under £1 in rental value.

For garments with a rental value of £2 and over that are returned irreparably damaged or stained, if this is a regular occurance, there may be a charge of the monthly rental fee of that garment.  But don’t worry, there will be plenty of gentle warning if this is to happen.

If you lose an item with a value of £3 and over, you will be charged double the monthly rental fee so that we can replace the item.

There may be a small late-return fee for garments not returned in the agreed time but again, there will be plenty of gentle warning if this is to happen:)

The Clothes

The clothes in our library are mainly pre-loved and they’re all in good condition. Some items will be a little more worn than they appear on the photo and this has been reflected in a lower rental price in relation to similar items.

Prolonging the life of your clothing has the biggest, most positive impact that you can have on the environment when it comes to textiles.  Laundering clothes isn’t great for the environment, but of course baby clothes need a LOT of laundry action so it’s good to get into some good habits.

  • Try to wash stains as soon as they happen – especially banana stains, they’re the worst!!!
  • Get familiar with wash symbols – they’re there to help us keep our clothes in good condition.
  • Wash at 30 on gentler cycles.  Washing at cooler temperatures can help clothes last longer, save money on electricity and reduce micro-fibre release.
  • Always let your clothes air-dry where possible.  Tumble dryers make your clothes shrink, fade and wear faster and are thought to increase the shedding of micro-fibres.  They’re handy of course but are to be avoided if poss – they really are an environmental no-no!

Sustainability

The SuperLooper clothing library consists of outgrown garments from lovely parents who, like you, want to keep these items in circulation for as long as possible.

We’re also working in partnership with our amazing Brand Partners who donate their overstock items and samples as part of their sustainability policies.

Some brands also offer rewards and money off vouchers for customers that send in their outgrown clothes to the SuperLoop.

See our Brand SuperLoop page for more info. In this way we’re all working together to protect our planet.

Wherever possible, any clothes that don’t make the SuperLooper library will be recycled as part of the service we offer. We can’t promise to keep everything out of the landfills and incinerators but we constantly search for partners who squeeze the last use out of any garment past its best. Find out about our recycling & repurposing partners by following our blog ‘SuperLooper Life’.

As babies grow so fast lots of items are only worn a handful of times before they head to the back of the cupboard … or worse, to the landfill or incinerator!

90% of carbon emissions are emitted at the first production stage of a garment so an item needs to be worn a lot to balance this out,  and with fast-growing babies this just isn’t possible! Renting an item reduces the carbon footprint of an item that would only be worn once by over 50% even with cleaning and delivery!

We aim for our delivery to be as low-waste as possible. All deliveries within Brighton and Hove are carried out by bike or can be dropped off and picked up from the WRAP Play Cafe at the Low Waste Parenting Group.

For UK wide orders we use recycled materials for our packaging and encourage SuperLoopers to reuse the boxes or bags to return their orders in. We will reuse packaging wherever possible.

  • Our planet is over-capacity in terms of waste and consumerism. We have enough clothing on the planet right now to clothe the next six generations of the human race.
  • Baby clothes and childrenswear in particular represent a disproportionate amount of the thousands of tonnes of clothing in landfill because children quickly outgrow their clothing, typically moving up seven sizes in their first two years.
  • As well as the high cost and limited lifespan, mass production of garments places huge pressure on the environment through waste, water consumption and carbon emissions.
  • There is a staggering 183 million pieces of outgrown baby clothing stored in UK homes, that’s enough to provide 250 items for every UK baby born each year
  • 7 in 10 parents have outgrown baby clothing stored away that they don’t use
  • 1 in 3 parents bin old baby clothing because they don’t know what else to do with it

Our Community

Here at SuperLooper, we’re on a mission to tackle some of the world’s biggest waste issues, but we can’t do it on our own which is why our community is such an important part of what we do. We aim to establish SuperLooper Low Waste Parenting groups nationwide in time.

If you have a passion for creating a more sustainable future and enjoy being active in your local community please consider becoming a LoopLeader and hold meet-ups for parents in your area.
